Why Railtex 2017 will be the Bigger Ever

Railtex 2017

The UK transport industry is seeing record levels of investment. Crossrail and the HS1 and HS2 lines are huge British infrastructure projects at the forefront of the industry’s development. Now, we’re getting ready for the UK’s biggest rail exhibition: Railtex 2017, 9th – 11th May 2017 at NEC Birmingham.

A Brief History of Railtex

Railtex is now in its 12th year and has long been established as the UK’s leading rail tradeshow. It’s the place to see the latest in railway equipment, products and services. Exhibitors are a mix of managers, engineers and buyers from leading industries in the rail sector.

Perfect timing

Aside from HS1, HS2 and Crossrail, modernisation and technology are also dominating the rail world. There is heavy investment in the electrification of main lines and signalling systems, among other improvements.

Transport for London remains a key market; new trains being acquired and the Tube’s iconic Northern Line is being extended, among other ventures.

In the near future, the proposed HS3 line linking cities in northern England as well as London’s Crossrail 2 are in the pipeline.

Of course, this is all to handle ever-increasing number of passengers taking our trains.

What to look out for at Railtex 2017

Increased Exhibition Space.

Between 2009 and 2015, Railtex increased its stand space from 6970 metres squared to 8230 metres squared. That means more space for exhibitors to showcase what they do best.

Keynote Speakers

Paul Maynard from the governmental Department of Transport will be speaking. Also, look out for Dr Francis Paonessa of Network Rail and Professor Andrew McNaughton at High Speed Two.

The Rail Alliance Hub

This is the place for Rail Alliance members exhibit alongside one another and promote their products and services.

The Track

The Track, sponsored by British Steel, allows exhibitors to showcase their track products ‘in-situ’. It’s a great chance to see how a product works and looks as it would in the field.

The Yard

The Yard ‘brings the outdoors indoors’! Heavy plant and machinery is displayed here, supported by The Rail Plant Association and the Rail Alliance.

Seminar Theatre

RailEngineer are the sponsors of this year’s comprehensive seminar programme. Events include daily keynote addresses and presentations from Railtex exhibitors.

Knowledge Hub

Railtex features a daily selection of project updates, industry briefings and interactive discussion forums by senior managers. All to keep you up to date on the latest news in UK rail projects.
